AN ORDINANCE APPROVING THE HIRING OF KARL LANE D/B/A THE
INCREDIBLE INFINITY FOR MUSICAL ENTERTAINMENT FOR THE CITY
OF WEST MEMPHIS, AND FOR OTHER PURPOSES.
WHEREAS, State Statute 14-42-107(b)(1) states:
No alderman, council member, official, or municipal employee shall be interested,
directly or indirectly, in the profits of any contract for furnishing supplies, equipment, or
services to the municipality unless the governing body of the city has enacted an
ordinance specifically permitting aldermen, council members, official, or municipal
employees to conduct business with the city and prescribing the extent of this authority.
and;
WHEREAS,the City of West Memphis desires to utilize the services of Karl Lane,
doing business as The Incredible Infinity, to provide musical entertainment for the City of West
Memphis; and
WHEREAS, Karl Lane is related to the current West Memphis Code Enforcement Clerk
and, as such, the Code Enforcement Clerk has a"direct or indirect" interest in the profits of such
hiring,thereby requiring prior approval of such hiring by the City Council of the City of West
Memphis;
NOW,THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE
CITY OF WEST MEMPHIS,ARKANSAS,THAT:
SECTION 1. The City of West Memphis is hereby authorized to hire Karl Lane d/b/a
The Incredible Infinity for musical entertainment for the City of West Memphis.
