AN ORDINANCE TO AMEND ORDINANCE 403 A3 AMENDED
BY ORDINANCB 1311 TO PROVIDE AN EXEMPTION,
ESTABLISH AN EMERGENCY AND FOR OTHER PURPOSES.
WHEREAS, Ordinance 1311 amended Ordinance 403 with
regard to the procedures for obtaining a license to conduct
electrical work within the City of West Memphis and
Ordinance 1311 made no exemption for those presently
authorized to conduct electrical work within the City of
West Memphis; and
WHEREAS, Ordinance 1311 should be amended in order to
prevent a hardship on those presently authorized to conduct
electrical work;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF
THE CITY OF WBST MEMPHIS, ARKANSAS:
SECTION 1. Ordinance 1311 is hereby amended to add the
following as Section 8:
Any person, firm or corporation properly authorized to
conduct electrical work within the City of West Memphis,
Arkansas, as of the effective date of Ordinance 1311 shall
be exempt from the requirements of Ordinance 403 as amended
so long as such authorization remains current and valid. In
the event that any such authorization shall cease for any
reason for any period of time, such authorization may not
be renewed unless the requirements of Ordinance 403 as
amended have been met. The exemption provided herein shall
not be transferrable.
SECTION 2. EMERGENCY CLAUSE. It being found and
determined by the City Council of the City of West Memphis,
Arkansas, that this Ordinance is necessary to prevent
unnecessary hardship and to insure the safe installation of
electrical devices in the City of West Memphis, Arkansas,
and this Ordinance being further necessary for the
preservation of the public peace, health, safety and
welfare of the Citizens of West Memphis, Arkansas, shall be
in full force and effect from and after its passage and
approval.
