AN ORDINANCE TO AMEND THE PERSONNEL MANUAL, ORDINANCE NO. 985,
AS AMENDED, DECLARING AN EMERGENCY, AND FOR OTHER PURPOSES.
BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF
WEST MEMPHIS, ARKANSAS:
SECTION 1. Ordinance No. 985, Section 2.13, Discipline
is further amended as follows by adding Paragraph 2.13A to
read as follows:
"ANY CITY EMPLOYEE CHARGED WITH A FELONY
SHALL BE SUSPENDED WITHOUT PAY FOR A PERIOD
OF NOT TO EXCEED THIRTY (30) DAYS PENDING
AN ADMINISTRATIVE HEARING ON THE CHARGES."
SECTION 2. Emergency Clause. It having been found and
determined by the City Council of the City of West Memphis,
Arkansas, that there are no set rules as to the disposition of
a City Employee having been charged with a felony pending an
administrative hearing; therefore, an emergency is declared
to exist, and this Ordinance being necessary for the public peace,
safety, health, and welfare of the Citizens of West Memphis,
Arkansas, shall become in effect immediately after its passage
and approval.
