A RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING THE MAYOR TO SIGN A GRANT
APPLICATION FOR THE MASTER PLAN UPDATE AND AGIS SURVEY
FOR THE WEST MEMPHIS MUNICIPAL AIRPORT, AND FOR OTHER
PURPOSES.
WHEREAS, Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) has grant funding available to fund
improvements to the West Memphis Municipal Airport; and
WHEREAS, the West Memphis Airport Commission has an improvement project
consisting of the Master Plan Update and AGIS Survey, AIP 3-05-0065-26-2015, at a total
project cost of approximately $250,000.00; and
WHEREAS, if approved for grant funding, the FAA will fund up to Ninety percent
(90%) of these planned improvements to the West Memphis Municipal Airport and the
Department of Aeronautics will fund the remaining amount at the conclusion of the project; and
WHEREAS, FAA grant applications for such improvements must be submitted no later
than July 1, 2015; and
WHEREAS,the West Memphis City Council desires to authorize the Mayor to sign the
FAA grant application for the described MasterPlan Update and AGIS Survey, in order to take
full advantage of this funding opportunity and to take any and all other steps necessary or
appropriate to apply for, accept and obtain the grant;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE
CITY OF WEST MEMPHIS, ARKANSAS, THAT the Mayor is hereby authorized to sign an
FAA grant application for the Master Plan Update and AGIS Survey, AIP 3-05-0065-26-2015, at
the West Memphis Municipal Airport and to take any and all other steps necessary or appropriate
to apply for, accept and obtain the grant; and
FURTHER, BE IT RESOLVED that, for purposes of Section 3.08.040 of the West
Memphis Municipal Code, the described Master Plan Update and AGIS Survey may require
expenditures of said grant funds in excess of$50,000 and such expenditures are hereby
authorized and confirmed by the City Council.
