AN ORDINANCE TO ESTABLISH AN AMBULANCE SERVICE
FOR THE CITY OF WEST MEMPHIS, ARKANSAS, DESIGNATING
EMERGENCY CALLS, DECLARING AN EMERGENCY AND
FOR OTHER PURPOSES.
BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF WEST MEMPHIS,
ARKANSAS:
SECTION 1. There is established in the City of West Memphis,
Arkansas, an ambulance service to provide assistance for the citizens
of West Memphis.
SECTION 2. It is the purpose of this Ordinance to operate the
ambulance service only within the City Limits of West Memphis unless
an emergency exists which shall be designated by the Chief of the
West Memphis Fire Department.
SECTION 3. The operation of the ambulance service in the
City of West Memphis shall be under the direction of the Chief of
the Fire Department who shall establish the rules and regulations
as are necessary to operate an ambulance service.
SECTION 4. The charges for the ambulance service will be as
follows:
a. From a location within the City Limits tq Cr~.ttenden
County Memorial Hospital, the ,fee will be $60,00;
b. From a location within the City Limits to a hospital
in Memphis, Tn., the fee will be $75,00;
' c. From a location outside the City Limits to the
Crittenden County Memorial Hospital, the fee
` will be $75.00;
d. From a location outside the City Limits to a hospital
in Memphis, Tn., the fee will be $90,00.

a. Where a call for an ambulance is made to a location
within the City of West Memphis and the call is cancelled upon the
arrival at the location by the ambulance, the charge will be $30.00.
b. Where a call for an ambulance is made to a location
outside the City Limits and the call is cancelled upon arrival at
the location by the ambulance, the charge will be $50.00.
SECTION 6. It shall be the responsibility of the City Clerk of
the City of West Memphis to bill the person using the ambulance
service for the charge (s), and failure to pay the charge (s) within
thirty (30) days will cause the account to become delinquent, I~'
the person using the ambulance service has insurance coverage ,fpr
ambulance service, the Personnel Director will assist in ,filing the
claim with the insurance company.
SECTION 7. EMERGENCY CLAUSE. It being found and determined
by the City Council of the City of Wf.,'t Memphis, Arkansas? that
there is an urgent need for an ambulance service in the City of

West Memphis, an emergency is declared to exist and this ordinance
being necessary for the preservations of the public peace, safety,
health and welfare, of the citizens of the City of West Memphis,
Arkansas, shall become in full force and effect immediately after
its passage and approval.
