SECTIO`; 01~'E, Section. 3.13 - Dismissal -Ordinance `yo, 937,
August, 197°, is amended as follows:
"All dismissals Lail]. be initiated by the i=nmediate Supervisor
or Department iTead who will recomTend to the *layor for approval
or disapproval. The '~Tayor. may reduce the charge of dismissal to
a lighter. punishment.
A1.1 dismissal notices shall be by written letter, rcoistered,
return receipt requested, with a statemer_t that a hearing; May be
held within ter, (10) days upon receipt of r}~e letter by writin^
the date and hearing requested ancJ returnin^ to the 'tayor. within
the time limit.
An employee, who is dismissed, except for the reasons Listed
below, will be given notice according to the followinry schedule:
Department heads 1 Calendar `Month
Supervisors and Salaried ?'er.sonnel. 2 ',•'eeks
Probationary Emp.l.oyees 140 "lotice
All Other. Employees 1 G:'eek
The following offenses shall be ~rounc'.s for dismissal at the
discretion of the Department lead and r',ayor without advance
notice and should. be reported pror~.ptly when committed.
1. firequent tardiness
2. Unexcused absences
3. T'ihtin
4. Intentional failure or refusal to follo~~* instructions
5. Gambling
h, Consumption of alcohol or narcotics while on the job
7. Theft or er,,:~ezzlin
ofhe~
S. Court conviction for-tam-r than a minor traffic violation
The City reserves the ri;ht to pay the employee in lieu of
notice."
SECTION Tti,?0. Section 2.14 - Discipline -Ordinance 2'0. 937,
August, 1973, is amended as follows:
"All disciplinary matters are to be initiated by the immediate
Supervisor and forwarded through channels to the ?•layor for
approval or disapproval.
Disciplinary punishment may include but not be limited to the
follo~vin~:
1. P,eprimand
Z. Suspension not to exceed thirty (30) days without pay
3. "Dismissal"
