AN ORDINANCE TO PROHIBIT THE SALE, CONSUMPTION OR
POSSESSION OF ANY BEVERAGE WITH ALCOHOLIC CONTENT
IN THE PUBLIC PARKS IN THE CITY OF WEST MEMPHIS,
UNDER THE JURISDICTION OF THE CITY OF WEST MEMPHIS
PARKS AND RECREATION COMMISSION, AND OTHER PROPERTY
OWNED BY THE CITY OF WEST MEMPHIS, DECLARING AN
r EMERGENCY AND FOR OTHER PURPOSES.
BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF WEST MEMPHIS,
ARKANSAS:
SECTION 1. It shall be unlawful for any person or persons to
sell, consume, or possess any beverage with alcoholic content in any
of the public parks under the jurisdiction of the West Memphis Parks
and Recreation Commission, and/or any other property owned by the
City of West Memphis.
SECTION 2. Any person who violates the provisions of this
Ordinance shall be guilty of a "CLASS C MISDEMEANOR".
SECTION 3. Emergency Clause. It having been found and determined
by the City Council of the City of West Memphis, Arkansas, that there is a
considerable increase in drinking of alcoholic beverages in the public
parks in the City of West Memphis under the jurisdiction of the City of
West Memphis Parks and Recreation Commission, and/or any other property
t#' owned by the City of West Memphis, an emergency is hereby declared to
~, exist and this Ordinance shall become effective immediately upon its
passage and approval.
