A RESOLUTION TO PROVIDE HOST COMMUNITY APPROVAL
FOR A PERMIT MODIFICATION FOR THE CRITTENDEN COUNTY
SANITARY LANDFILL.
WHEREAS, Crittenden County Sanitary Landfill has been a solid waste management
facility in Crittenden County for several decades providing a high quality collection and disposal
service; and
WHEREAS, Crittenden County Landfill employs over eight persons in Crittenden
County; and
WHEREAS, the proper disposal of solid waste is important for the growth and continued
economic development of Crittenden County; and
WHEREAS, Crittenden County is submitting to the Arkansas Department of
Environmental Quality a request for an expansion and modification of the existing Crittenden
County Sanitary Landfill permit; and
WHEREAS, Crittenden County is seeking approval from the host community, West
Memphis, Arkansas, in compliance with the Arkansas Department of Environmental Quality
Regulation Number 22 that covers the collection and disposal of solid waste and incentives to
prompt the host community to accept the facility; and
WHEREAS, Crittenden County and the operator of the Crittenden County Sanitary
Landfill, Santek Environmental of Arkansas, LLC, have agreed to provide certain incentives to
the City of West Memphis, Arkansas, as host community;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY OF WEST MEMPHIS,
ARKANSAS,THAT:
SECTION 1. In consideration of the incentives provided by Crittenden County and the
operator of the Crittenden County Sanitary Landfill, Santek Environmental of Arkansas, LLC,
the City of West Memphis, Arkansas, does hereby support and approve of Crittenden County's
application of an expansion and modification of the existing permit allowing for the
improvements and increased capacity at the Crittenden County Sanitary Landfill. This support
and approval is contingent on compliance with Ordinance No. 2420 of the City of West
Memphis, Arkansas, granting a Special Use Permit for the expansion of the Crittenden County
Sanitary Landfill.
