AN ORDINANCE TO AMEND THE PERSONNEL MANUAL OF THE CITY OF
WEST MEMPHIS, ARKANSAS, REGARDING FUNERAL BENEFITS, AND FOR
OTHER PURPOSES.
WHEREAS, the City Council of the City of West Memphis desires to amend the
Personnel Manual of the City of West Memphis, Arkansas, for the purpose of modifying Funeral
Benefits from one (1) day of leave to three (3) days of leave;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE
CITY OF WEST MEMPHIS, ARKANSAS, THAT:
SECTION 1. Section 4.5 of the Personnel Manual of the City of West Memphis is
amended to read as follows:
4.5 FUNERAL BENEFITS
The City recognizes that times of bereavement will occur and extends its sympathy at that
time. Should a death in your family occur, you should contact your supervisor or
department head immediately to arrange for the necessary time off.
The City will grant three (3) days of leave, with continuance of pay, for you to attend the
funeral of the following relatives: wife, husband, child, mother, father, sister, brother,
grandfather, grandmother, grandchild, in-laws or any other individual acting as parent or
guardian. If additional time off is necessary, arrangements must be made with your
department head for vacation, sick leave or leave without pay.
Verification of death may be required.
SECTION 2. All ordinances or parts of ordinances in conflict herewith are hereby
repealed to the extent of any such conflict.
