AN ORDINANCE TO REPEAL ORDINANCE N0. 950, DATED
OCTOBER 9, ]978, AND TO AMEND ORDINANCE N0. 9]5,
DATED AUGUST 25, ]977, DESIGNATING ONE (])
UTILITY COMMISSION MEMBER TO BE CHOSEN FROM EACH
OF THE FIVE (5) WARDS OF THE CITY OF WEST MEMPHIS,
ARKANSAS, AND FOR OTHER PURPOSES.
BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF
WEST MEMPHIS, ARKANSAS:
SECTION ~. Repeal. Ordinance No. 950, dated October ]9,
1978, is hereby repealed.
SECTION 2. Appointments. Section Three (3) of
Ordinance No. 9]5, dated August 25, ]977, is amended as
follows:
,~' "The Utility Commission shall consist of five (5)
resident elector citizens, one (]) member from
each of the five (5) wards of the City, who shall
be nominated by the Mayor and two (2) Aldermen,
or Alderwoman of the ward to be represented. The
person nominated must be confirmed by a majority
vote of the City Council. r~ ~c~~V

The Mayor shall nominate and confirm one (])
member of the City Council as liaison member to
the Commission. The Commission shall elect a
chairman and Vice Chairman annually."
SECTION 3. Terms. Section Four (4) of Ordinance
No. 9]5, dated August 24, ]977, is amended as follows:,
"Nothing herein shall effect or reduce the term of
any member presently serving on the Utility Commission:
however, on the expiration of the term of any member
now serving, successor members shall be appointed from
wards with no representation. Where a ward is
represented by only one (]) utility member, he may
be re-appointed. '
The terms of members shall be for five (5) years.
Vacancies due to death, resignation, or ot her means,
shall be selected the same as regular t erm members."
