AN ORDINANCE TO ADOPT AND ENFORCE
AN OFFICIAL MAP AND NUMBERING SYSTEM
FOR HOMES AND PLACES OF BUSINESS IN
THE CITY OF WEST MEMPHIS, ARKANSAS
IT IS HEREBY ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF

Section 1. The map prepared by Marion L. Christ and Associates

Section 2. That the house numbering shown on said map and
maintained by the City Engineers Office is hereby adopted as the
official numbering system for the City of West Memphis and that
said designated numbers shall be displayed by suitable means such
as painting or placing metallic numbers on the entrances or front
portions of homes, stores and other places of business in the City.
Such numbers shall be displayed so as to be easily seen from the
fronting street.
Section 3. Any persons, partnerships, or corporations holding
property within the City of West Memphis and failing to comply
with the provisions of this Ordinance shall be deemed guilty of a
misdemeanor and conviction of same shall be fined in any sum not
less than $5.00 and not more than 10.00.
Section .. It is hereby declared and found to be a fact that
it is to the interest of the public welfare, and there is hereby
need for the adoption of this Ordinance; therefore, it being

necessary for the preservation of the public peace, health and
safety of the residents of the City of West Memphis, an emergency
is declared to exist and this ordinance shall be in full force
ir.. and effect from and after its passage and approval.
