AN ORDINANCE ACCEPTING TERRITORY ANNEXED TO ~ `
THE CITY OF WEST MEMPHIS, ARKANSAS
AND DECLARING AN EMERGENCY
WHEREAS, Union Planters National Bank of Memphis, Trustee under
the Last Wills of Laura R. Morton, George Randolph, Amy Randolph and
Wassell Randolph, deceased, Stanley H. Trezevant, Jr. , Rebecca T. Hutter
and Marye Trezevant have instituted proceedings in the County Court of
Crittenden County, Arkansas, for the annexation of certain territory to the
City of West Memphis, Arkansas; and
WHEREAS, such territory is contiguous to the City of West Memphis
and it is proper and right and for the best interest of such city that such
territory should be annexed; and
WHEREAS, the County Court of Crittenden County, Arkansas, has
entered its order of July 19, 1973, approving the annexation of such territory
as hereinafter described to the city and on the 20th day of August, 1973,
entered its order confirming such annexation and it is necessary that the
City accept such territory before the annexation can be completed and the
territory hereinafter described become a part of the City of West Memphis:
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF
THE CITY OF WEST MEMPHIS, ARKANSAS:
SECTION I: That the territory hereinafter described be, and it is,
hereby accepted as a part of the City of West Memphis, Arkansas, to wit:
That part of the E z and the E z W 2 of Section 10, Township 6
North, Range 9 East, lying west of the St. Francis Levee
District right of way line more particularly described as
follows, to wit: Beginning at the point of intersection of the
west line of the E a W i of Section 10, Township 6 North, Range
9 East, and the north right of way line of Interstate Highway
55; thence south 70 degrees, 43 minutes east 278. 2 feet along
said north right of way line; thence north 19 degrees 27 minutes
east 28. 2 feet; thence south 70 degrees 43 minutes east 135. 1
feet; thence north 19 degrees 27 minutes east 50. 0 feet; thence

south 70 degrees 43 minutes east 220 feet, more or less, to
the west right of way line of the St. Francis Levee District
right of way; thence in a northerly direction along the meanders
of the west right of way line of the St. Francis Levee District
to the north line of Section 10, Township 6 North, Range 9 East;
thence west along the north line of Section 10 to a point that is
200 feet east of the west line of the Ez WZ of Section 10; thence
south 200. 0 feet; thence west 200 feet to a point on the west line
of the E z W2 of Section 10; thence south along the west line of
the E z W i of Section 10 to the point of beginning on the north
right of way line of Interstate Highway 55, containing 260 acres,
more or less.
SECTION II: That the territory herein described be, and it is,
hereby attached to and incorporated in Ward ~ of the City of West
Memphis, Arkansas, and shall forthwith be considered and become a part
thereof.
SECTION III: It is hereby found and determined by the City Council
of the City of West Memphis that this ordinance is necessary for the preservation
of the public peace, health and welfare of the City of West Memphis and the
growth and expansion of the City of West Memphis; therefore, an emergency
is hereby declared to exist, and this ordinance shall be in full force and effect
from and after its passage and approval.
