A RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING THE OF CITY OF WEST MEMPHIS TO PAY
FINDS TO THE ARKANSAS LOCAL POLICE AND FIRE RETIREMENT
SY 3TEM(LOPFI) FOR COMPENSATION FOR ELIGIBLE MEMBERS AFTER
REACHING SIXTY YEARS OF AGE.
W I IEREAS,Ordinance number 2442 and Ordinance number 2443 passed on October
12, 2017, -ansferred administration of retirement coverage for eligible members of the West
Memphis Police Pension and Relief Fund and eligible members of the West Memphis Fire
Pension a:id Relief Fund to the Arkansas Local Police and Fire Retirement System (LOPFI); and
W.IIEREAS, it has been brought to the attention of the City of West Memphis by LOPFI
that after, ligible members turned sixty years of age an increase should have been made in their
compensation and the City of West Memphis needs to provide the funds to LOPF1 for three
members of LOPFI in order to comply with the plan administration; and
WHEREAS,some eligible members have been underpaid after reaching sixty years of
age and tli z-City of West Memphis needs to provide the funds to LOPFI for these members;
N;:)W,THEREFORE,BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE
CITY OF WEST MEMPHIS,ARKANSAS,THAT the City of West Memphis pay to LOPFI
for follov i ing eligible members:
1. Mr. Bonnie Simmons was eligible for an increase as of August, 2001 to December 31,
2017, a total amount of$40,128.90.
2. Mr. James Hall was eligible for an increase as of October, 2007 to Decenber 31, 2017,
for a total amount of$8,804.34.
3 Mr. Irvin Shelton was eligible for an increase as of November, 2010 to December 31,
2017, for a total amount of$30,310.70.
