A RESOLUTION TO SUPPORT A COUNTY-WIDE ECONOMIC
DEVELOPMENT EFFORT AND THE CRITTENDEN COUNTY I-40
MEGA SITE FOR ECONOMIC GROWTH AND DEVELOPMENT
PURPOSES
WHEREAS, economic development is an increasingly competitive effort among
states and localities, requiring sufficient local resources and cooperation,
WHEREAS, Crittenden County has been considered for large industrial projects in
the past and remains an attractive location in the southeast,
WHEREAS, an undeveloped tract of land containing approximately 1,830 acres as
shown in Atu.chment A, is being developed as a Mega Site for large industrial prospects; and
WHEREAS, the Mega Site consists of properties lying both in the city limits of Marion
and West Me:aphis; and
WHEREAS, the Mega Site is currently undergoing the due diligence process for site
certification through Entergy's Select Site program; and
WHEREAS, the branding and marketing of the Mega Site provides the cities of Marion
and West Memphis and Crittenden County the opportunity for substantial economic growth and
development that will benefit the entire region; and
WHEREAS,the Arkansas Economic Development Commission and Entergy
Arkansas live expressed their support to the county and cities;
NOVI, THEREFORE,BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE
CITY OF WEST MEMPHIS, ARKANSAS, that the City of West Memphis hereby pledges its
support and authorizes the Mayor and Economic Development Department to cooperate with the
City of Marion, Crittenden County, Entergy and the AEDC in the development and promotion of
the Mega Site and adjacent available lands for county-wide economic development
opportunities.
