2485 ORDINANCE NO.
AN ORDINANCE WAIVING COMPETITIVE BIDDING FOR THE PURCHASE OF
TWO HEART MONITORS FOR THE WEST MEMPHIS FIRE DEPARTMENT,AND
FOR OTHER PURPOSES.
WHEREAS,Arkansas Code Annotated Section 14-58-303 allows waiving of competitive
bidding in exceptional situations where such procedure is deemed not feasible or practical; and
WHEREAS,there are many items necessary for the City's use where competitive bidding is
deemed not feasible or practical; and
WHEREAS,the City of West Memphis and the West Memphis Fire Department are in need of
purchasing two new heart monitors to replace two monitors that can no longer be serviced due to age;
and
WHEREAS,ZOLL Medical Corporation has quoted a price for two heart monitors and the two
remaining heart monitors are ZOLL brand and this would allow the fire department to use the same
software and all the heart monitors would be under a service contract with one company;
NOW,THEREFORE,BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF
WEST MEMPHIS,ARKANSAS:
1. That competitive bidding be waived for the following item to be used by the City, described
as follows:
The purchase of two ZOLL heart monitors from ZOLL Medical Corporation for the price of
$66,394.40.
