A
A RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING TEMPORARY SPENDING FOR THE WEST
MEMPHIS POLICE DEPARTMENT FOR A BONUS OR HIRING INCENTIVE
FOR POTENTIAL UNIFORMED OFFICERS,AND FOR OTHER PURPOSES.
WHEREAS,the West Memphis Police Department has a critical shortage of uniformed
police officers and has the need to fill those positions as quickly as possible with qualified
candidates; and
WHEREAS,the West Memphis Police Department is requesting authorization for
temporary spending in the total amount of$30,000.00 for a bonus or hiring incentive not to
exceed$5,000.00 per potential employee to be used at the discretion of the Chief of Police; and
WHEREAS,the City Council of the City of West Memphis,Arkansas, finds that the
temporary spending is appropriate and should be approved;
NOW,THEREFORE,BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE
CITY OF WEST MEMPHIS,ARKANSAS,THAT the West Memphis Police Department be
authorized for temporary spending in the total amount of$30,000.00 for a bonus or hiring
incentive not to exceed$5,000.00 per potential employee to be used at the discretion of the Chief
of Police, and this resolution shall be in full force and effect from and after the date of its passage
and approval.
