2506 ORDINANCE NO.
AN ORDINANCE AMENDING ORDINANCE NO. 1548 TO ALLOW THE SALE,
CONSUMPTION OR POSSESSION OF BEER AND WINE PRODUCTS ON
PUBLIC PROPERTY OWNED AND DESIGNATED BY THE CITY OF WEST
MEMPHIS AND SUPERVISED BY THE WEST MEMPHIS ADVERTISING AND
PROMOTION COMMISSION.
WHEREAS,Ordinance No. 1548 repealed Ordinance No. 1527 and reenacted the former
provisions of Ordinance No. 1062 as amended; and
WHEREAS,the City Council of the City of West Memphis finds that Ordinance 1548
should be amended;
NOW,THEREFORE,BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE
CITY OF WEST MEMPHIS,ARKANSAS THAT:
SECTION 1: Section 1 of Ordinance No. 1548 is hereby amended to read as follows:
It shall be unlawful for any person or persons to sell, consume or possess any
beverage with alcoholic content in any of the public parks under the
jurisdiction of the West Memphis Parks and Recreation Commission. It shall
be unlawful for any person or persons to sell,consume or possess any
beverage with alcoholic content on any of the property owned by the City,
except as a permitted event in accordance with all conditions set forth by the
City Advertising and Promotion Commission. Serving of beer and wine by
the Advertising and Promotion Commission may be permitted at city facilities
and in certain public places for special events. The specific locations where
beer and wine will be permitted under certain conditions are the Eugene
Woods Civic Center, the West Memphis Civic Auditorium, events at the
Fairgrounds and events at the Big River Crossing.
SECTION 2: Any ordinance in conflict herewith are hereby repealed.
