A RESOLUTION TO ADOPT THE "GROW WEST MEMPHIS 2040" PLAN AS THE
WEST MEMPHIS COMPREHENSIVE PLAN.
WHEREAS, in the spring of 2018, The City of West Memphis, through the Planning and
Development Department, and the Economic Development Department set out to create a new
comprehensive plan for the City of West Memphis,
WHEREAS, in July of 2018, a steering committee began meeting regularly to ensure the plan
was relevant to the interests and ideas of West Memphians,
WHEREAS, in October and November of 2018, a series of public open houses where
community members could voice opinions and concerns about the city, and its comprehensive
plan were held at Bragg Elementary and Weaver Elementary,
WHEREAS, in March of 2019, another public meeting was held at ASU-Mid South to unveil
the Draft plan of"Grow West Memphis 2040,"
WHEREAS, the "GROW West Memphis 2040" plan has been available for review on the plan's
website since that time,
WHEREAS, at the meeting of the West Memphis Planning Commission on July 31, 2019,
the Planning Commission considered and recommended adopting the GROW West Memphis
2040 Plan as the Comprehensive Plan for the City of West Memphis, and the City Council finds
that the recommended change in the Comprehensive Plan should be granted.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY
OF WEST MEMPHIS, ARKANSAS:
That the current West Memphis Comprehensive Plan be repealed and replaced by the GROW
WEST MEMPHIS 2040 Plan.
