ORDINANCE N0. 229
AN ORDINANCE INCORPORATING CERTAIN TERRITORY ADJACENT TO THE CITY OF
WEST MEMPHIS IN THE CORPORATE LIMITS OF THE CITY OF WEST MEMKPHIS,
CRITTENDEN.COUNTY ARKANSAS.
WFII•;REAS, on the 8th day of January, 1929, the County Court of
Crittenden County, Arkansas, made an Order annexing certain lands therein
described to the City of West Memphis pursuant to the Petition of Z. T.
Bragg and others, and
WHffii~:AS, the signers on said Petition constitute a majority of the
owners in the affected area and also a majority of the residents of the
affected area, and
WHEREAS, it would be to the best interests of the City of West
Memphis and the citizens thereof that said territory be incorporated
into the City of West Memphis, now
THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF WEST

SECTION 1 LANDS ANNEXED: That the following described lands, con-
tiguous to and adjoining the City of West Memphis, Crittenden County,
Arkansas, to vit:
$eginning at the Southeast (SE) Corner of Lot Two (2), Block
Seven (7) of Canapress Subdivision, West Memphis, Crittenden
County, Arkansas, at the line of the Town of West Memphis;
thence West 600 Feet on the line between Lots Two (2) and
2'hree (3) and Six (6), and Four (tt) and Five (5)
Seven (7), S Corner of Lot Four
in Block Seven (7) to the outhwest (SW)
(!~), Block Seven (7), thence North 1110 Feet on a line of
Rhodes Street to the Northwest (NW) Corner of Lot Five (5),
Block Six (6); thence East 600 Feet on the North line of
Lots Five (5), Six (6) and Seven (7) to the line of the Town
of West Memphis.

SECTION 2 • ACCEPTANCE OF DEDICATION OF STREETS, ALLEYS, SQtTARES
AIVD OTHER DEDICATED LANDS: The filing of the plat covering the above
described lands shall be taken to constitute a dedication of the
streets, alleys, squares and other lands shown on said plat as a dedi-
cation to the public use forever and said streets, alleys, squares and
other public lands as shown on said plat are hereby accepted on behalf
of the City of West Memphis and the citizens thereof to the public use
forever.
SECTION 3 •• ffi~ERGIIdCY CLAIISEs It appearing to the City Council
of the City of West Memphis that the above described lands are con-
tiguous and adjacent to the City of West Memphis; that said lands have
bean subdivided and sold for residential and other purposes; that by
oversight or inadvertence said lands have never been accepted and
properly brought into the City of West Memphis by Ordinance; that the
streets, alleys, squares and other lands dedicated to the public use
have never been accepted; that it is necessary that this Ordinance be
passed and said lands be incorporated into the City of West Memphis
and the dedication accepted; therefore, an emergency is declared to
exist, and this Ordinance shall be in full force from and after its
passage and approval.
