AN-ORDINANCE TO DESIGNATE FIVE MOST PUBLIC PLACES
TO POST WRITTEN OR PRINTED NOTICES FOR THE
PUBLICATION OF ANY LAW OR ORDINANCE OF THE CITY
OF WEST MEMPHIS,AND FOR OTHER PURPOSES.
WHEREAS, Arkansas Code Annotated Section 14-55-206 allows municipalities in
which no newspaper is published, written or printed notice posted in five(5) of the most public
places designated by the governing body in an ordinance or minutes of the governing body shall
be deemed a sufficient publication of any law or ordinance; and
WHEREAS, the local newspaper that the City of West Memphis used to publish all laws
and ordinances previously published in print form five (5) days a week; and
WHEREAS, the local newspaper has reduced publication in print form to once a week;
and
WHEREAS, in anticipation of the possibility that the local newspaper will no longer
publish in print form, the City Council of the City of West Memphis is in need of designating
five (5) most public places to post written or printed notices for sufficient publication of any law
or ordinance of the City of West Memphis;
NOW, THEREFORE BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE
CITY OF WEST MEMPHIS, ARKANSAS:
1. That the following locations are designated as five(5) most public places for the
posting of written or printed notices for the publication of any law or ordinance of the City of
West Memphis:
1. District Court of West Memphis
2. West Memphis Public Library
3. West:Memphis Utilities
4. West Memphis City Hall
5. Crittenden County Courthouse
