A RESOLUTION SUPPORTING COMMUNITY DEVELOPMENT
THROUGH A PLAN KNOWN AS THE ARKANSAS DELTA
IIvITIATIVE
WHEREAS, the city of West Memphis is one of 5 Delta region communities,
that over recent decades whose downtown has been in economic decline due in part to the
deterioration of downtown; and
WHEREAS, in order to be successful, new revitalization strategies for the Delta
must stress the region's competitive advantages and improve its self-image; and
WHEREAS, Main Street Arkansas is collaborating with the National Trust for
Historic Preservation to develop a comprehensive, long-range action plan that will
address these issues.
NOW, THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF
THE CITY OF WEST MEMPHIS ARKANSAS, THAT:
The City of West Memphis gives its full support to the "Arkansas Delta
Initiative" as outlined in the assessment report developed by Main Street Arkansas in
collaboration with the National Trust for Historic Preservation as outlined in Arkansas
Delta Initiative Assessment Report & Action Blueprint.
