CITY OF WEST MEMPHIS, ARKANSAS
WHEREAS, the West Memphis City Council adopted a Comprehensive Development Plan on
September 7, 1989, by Resolution Number 1197, which Plan has served to provide guidance for public and
private development for the City of West Memphis and surrounding areas; and,
WHEREAS, the City of West Memphis has annexed territory which now extends the corporate
limits of the City beyond the original scope of the Comprehensive Development Plan adopted in 1989; and,
WHEREAS, the West Memphis Planning Commission and the West Memphis City Council fmd it
desirable and necessary to update the Comprehensive Development Plan to reflect current and future
~velopment priorities; and,
WHEREAS, the Arkansas Municipal Planning Statutes, ASA 14-56-401, et. seq., permit city
planning commissions to prepare plans, ordinances and regulations within the territorial jurisdiction of the
legislative body of a city having a planning commission; and,
WHEREAS, the West Memphis Planning Commission has designated an area within said territorial
jurisdiction and filed same with the Crittenden County Recorder; and,
WHEREAS, the West Memphis Planning Commission, following public hearings on September 18,
2000, and October 16, 2000, adopted on October 25, 2000 and recommended to the West Memphis City Council
for adoption, an Update to the Comprehensive Development Plan for the City and Planning Area.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF WEST
MEMPHIS ,ARKANSAS
THAT, the Updated Comprehensive Development Plan as prepared and recommended by the Planning
Commission be, and hereby is adopted.
