AN ORDINANCE TO AUTHORIZE ALDERMEN AND MEMBERS OF
C THE CITY COUNCIL TO PURCHASE SERVICES FROM VANTWON
FORD D/B/A THE EXPERIENCE LAWN SERVICE,AND FOR OTHER
PURPOSES.
WHEREAS,A.C.A. § 14-42-107 states that in order for Aldermen. Members of
the City Council or any elected official to conduct business with the City, that it is
necessary that an Ordinance be passed by the Governing Body, specifically, permitting
Aldermen, Members of the City Council or any elected official to conduct business with
the City and prescribing the extent of such authority; and
WHEREAS, the City of West Memphis desires to utilize the services of Vantwon
Ford doing business as The Experience Lawn Service to provide lawn services for the
City of West Memphis; and
r WHEREAS,Vantwon Ford is currently employed by the West Memphis Police
Department and, as such, has a"direct or indirect'interest in the profits of such hiring,
thereby requiring prior approval of such hiring by the City Council of the City of West
Memphis;
WHEREAS, Vantwon Ford has been providing lawn services to the City of West
Memphis since June 1,2021, and the City Council finds that this Ordinance should be
made retroactive for services purchased beginning June 1, 2021;
NOW,THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF
THE CITY OF WEST MEMPHIS, ARKANSAS,THAT:
SECTION 1. That authorization be given for the City of West Memphis,
Arkansas to be famished services by Vantwon Ford doing business as The Experience
Lawn Service and this Ordinance be made retroactive f�ervices purchased beginning
