A RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING THE MAYOR AND CITY CLERK TO SIGN AN AGREEMENT FOR
PUBLIC TRANSPORTATION GRANT ASSISTANCE WITH THE ARKANSAS HIGHWAY AND
TRANSPORTATION DEPARTMENT, AND FOR OTHER PURPOSES
WHEREAS. the Citv Council of the City of West Memphis understands that the United States
Depamnent of Transportation is offering a Federal Transit Administration Grant Assistance Program through the
Arkansas State Highway and Transportation Department; and.
WHEREAS. the purpose of this program is to develop new or expanded transportation services that
connect welfare recipients and other low income persons to jobs and other employment related services; and_
WHEREAS. this grant would total ~>00,000.00 and is available at >0'%~ federal participation and ~0%
local cash match: and.
WHEREAS. an agreement for services will be between the City of West Memphis and the Memphis Area
Transit Authority (MAYA).
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF WEST
MEMPHIS THAT:
SECTION 1. The Agreement for Public Transportation Grant Assistance is approved and the Mayor of
the Citt~ of West Memphis and the City Clerk are hereby authorized and directed to execute all appropriate
agreements and contracts necessary- to expedite the above stated project.
SECTION 2. The Mayor of the Cit}~ of West Memphis and the City Clerk are hereby authorized and
directed to execute all appropriate agreements and contracts necessary with the Memphis Area Transit Authority
(MAYA).
SECTION 3. The Cin Council of the Cite of West Memphis pledges its fiill support and hereby
authorizes the Arkansas Statne~Highway and Transportation Department to initiate action to implement this project.
