A RESOLUTION ACCEPTING THE ANNEXATION OF CERTAIN
TERRITORY TO THE CITY OF WEST MEMPHIS, ARKANSAS, AND
MAKING SAME A PART OF THE CITY OF WEST MEMPHIS,
ARKANSAS.
WHEREAS, a petition was filed with the County Clerk of Crittenden County,
Arkansas, by the majority of the real estate owners of the hereinafter described territory
praying that said territory be annexed to and made a part of the City of West Memphis,
Arkansas; and
WHEREAS, on the 14"' day of March, 2002, the County Court of Crittenden
County, Arkansas, found that the petition was signed by a majority of the real estate
owners in said territory; that said territory was contiguous to and adjoining the present
corporate limits of the City of West Memphis, Arkansas; that an accurate plat or map of
said territory had been filed with and made a part of said petition; that proper notice had
been given for the time and in the manner prescribed by law, and that said lands and
territory should be annexed to and made part of the City of West Memphis, Arkansas,
subject to the acceptance of same by the City Council of the City at the proper time, as
provided by law; and
WHEREAS, the time fixed by law for appealing from said Order of Annexation
made by the County Court has expired and no appeal has been taken from said Order.
NOVV, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF
THE CITY OF V1'EST MEMPHIS, ARKANSAS, THAT:
SECTION 1. The following described lands and territory contiguous to and
adjoining the City of West Memphis, Arkansas, be and the same is hereby accepted and
annexed to and made a part of the City of West Memphis, Arkansas:
183 acres lying in the SE 1/4 of Section 21 and the South ~h of Section 22, and
the North ~h of Section 27, lying West of Airport Road and South of the North right of
way line of the Union Pacific Railroad, all in T-6-N, R-8-E, Crittenden County,
Arkansas, and being more particularly described as follows:
Beginning at the intersection of the North-South centerline of said Section 22 and the
North right of way line of the Union Pacific Railroad, said point being on the existing
city limits of West Memphis by Ordinance No. 1650, thence South along the North-
South centerline of said Section 22 a distance of 102.99 feet to a point on the South
right of way line of the Union Pacific Railroad; thence N76~09'S4"E along the said
South right of way line a distance of 147.10 feet to a point in the centerline of Airport
Road; thence S25~23'S7"E along the centerline of Airport Road a distance of 234.44
feet; thence along a curve to right with a radius of 1000.0 feet an arc length of 588.07
feet; thence 508 17'40"W along said centerline a distance of 1637.42 feet; thence
S89~58'49"W a distance of 1756.50 feet; thence N0~00'S2"W a distance of 604.57 feet
to a point on the South line of said Section 22; thence West along the South line of said
Section 22 a distance of 977 feet to the Southwest corner of Section 22; thence continue
West along the South line of Section 21 a distance of 2640 feet to the Southwest corner
of the SE 1/4 of Section 21, thence North along the West line of the SE 1/4 of Section
21 a distance of 570 feet to a point on the North right of way line of the Union Pacific
Railroad; thence N76~09'S4"E along said North right of way line a distance of 2970 feet
to a point on the existing city limits; thence continue N76~09'S4"E along said North
right of way line and the existing city limits a distance of 2468.53 feet to the point of
beginning, containing 183 acres more or less.
