A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF WEST
MEMPHIS, ARKANSAS, SUPPORTING THE ARKANSAS TOURISM
ATTRACTION FEASIBILITY STUDY MATCHING GRANT APPLICATION.
WHEREAS, West Memphis, Arkansas seeks to improve the tourism facilities of West
Memphis and wishes to seek grant funding assistance; and
WHEREAS, in order to obtain the funds necessary to develop the site for such a tourist
facility, it is necessary to obtain a Tourist Attraction Feasibility Study Matching Grrant
Application from the Arkansas Department of Parks and Tourism, Tourism Development
Section; and
WHEREAS, the plans for such a tourism facility are being prepared by the use of other
funds; and
WHEREAS, the Mayor and City Council of West Memphis understand that funds of
$15,000 will be required from the agency for whom the study is being conducted; and
WHEREAS, this governing body understands this research is conducted for the purpose
of determining the possibility and potential of a specific tourism attraction within the city
boundaries.
NOW THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of West Memphis,
Arkansas, that the Mayor is hereby authorized to make application to the Arkansas
Department of Parks and Tourism for assistance to develop a feasibility study matching
grant application for the City; therefore such application shall be submitted as
expediently as possible.
