A RESOLUTION REQUESTING THE PLANNING COMMISSION TO
RECOMMEND THE APPROPRIATE ZONING FOR THE ANNEXED AREA
OF SHADY GROVE.
WHEREAS, the City of West Memphis accepted the annexation of the Shady Grove area by
Resolution 1601; and
WHEREAS, pursuant to Article II, Section 4 of the West Memphis Zoning Ordinance,
annexed lands are received in the city zoned as R-1 Residential, Single Family District, unless
otherwise classified by the City Council and the Shady Grove annexation was received as R-1; and
WHEREAS, pursuant to Article IX, Section 5(B) of the Zoning Ordinance, the City Council
may initiate a change in the district boundary; and
WHEREAS, any zoning change initiated by the City Council should be referred to the
Planning Commission for the appropriate administrative procedures prior to the Planning
Commission making a recommendation to the City Council;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY
OF WEST MEMPHIS, ARKANSAS, THAT the City Council hereby requests that the Planning
Commission conduct such administrative procedures as may be required and make such
recommendation to the City Council as may be proper regarding the appropriate zoning for the
annexed area of Shady Grove.
