A RESOLUTION EXPRESSING THE CITY'S WILLINGNESS TO
PARTICIPATE WITH THE ARKANSAS STATE HIGHWAY AND
TRANSPORTATION DEPARTMENT IN REPLACING THE NORTH AVALON
BRIDGE OVER TEN MILE BAYOU AND AUTHORIZING THE FINAL PAYMENT
OF THE CITY'S SHARE OF THE PROJECT BE PAID TO THE ARKANSAS
STATE HIGHWAY AND TRANSPORTATION DEPARTMENT BY JANUARY 31,
1995.
WHEREAS, the bridge over Ten Mile Bayou on North Avalon is
in need of replacement; and
WHEREAS, the City has made numerous repairs to it in recent
years; and;
WHEREAS, the Arkansas State Highway Department (AHTD) has
agreed to include the bridge in its replacement program; and
WHEREAS, the City has agreed to pay 20% of the cost of the
bridge replacement cost; and
WHEREAS, the AHTD has completed all design work, has
acquired all needed right-of-ways, all utilities have been
relocated, the project has been bid out and a low bid of $722,812
has been tentatively accepted by the AHTD; and
WHEREAS, the City's share of the project will be $144,562;
and
WHEREAS, the City has already made a $10,000 payment in 1993
and will be able to make another $30,000 in 1994; and
WHEREAS, the City's remaining share of $104,562 will be due
in January, 1995;
NOW THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE
CITY OF WEST MEMPHIS, ARKANSAS, THAT:
The City pledges its full support and hereby authorizes the
final payment of the City's remaining share of $104,652 by
January 31, 1995.
