A RESOLUTION TO APPROVE THE WEST MEMPHIS INDUSTRIAL
PRETREATMENT PROGRAM AND TO SUPPORT THE SEWER USE
ORDINANCE AS PROPOSED IN THE PROGRAM.
WHEREAS, The City of West Memphis, Arkansas, regulates waste water
discharges into the public sewerage system; and
WHEREAS, Waste water discharges come from all classes of users, including
industrial plants; and
WHEREAS, The United States Environmental Protection Agency requires a
formal program with which to control discharges to the public sewerage system in
accordance with the General Pretreatment Regulations for Existing and New Sources of
Pollution (40 CFR 403); and
WHEREAS, The health and welfare of citizens of West Memphis, Arkansas,
should be protected;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE
CITY OF WEST MEMPHIS, ARKANSAS, that the City Council approves the West
Memphis Industrial Pretreatment Program and approves and supports the Sewer Use
Ordinance as proposed within the program.
