WHEREAS, Dan Craft was elected to the office of City Clerk in November 1990
and took office in January 1991, to serve as City Clerk for a four (4) year term and until
his successor is elected and qualified; and
WHEREAS, there was no election for the office of City Clerk held in November
1994, but there was an election for the office of City Clerk-Treasurer held in November
1994; and
WHEREAS, Dan Craft was elected to the office of City Clerk-Treasurer and took
office in January 1995, and has performed all of the duties of City Clerk since that time;
and
WHEREAS, the Ordinance establishing the office of City Clerk-Treasurer has
been held invalid and Dan Craft is serving as the incumbent City Clerk; and
WHEREAS, there has been an issue raised concerning the office of City Clerk;

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF
THE CITY OF WEST MEMPHIS, ARKANSAS, that in order to resolve any issue
concerning the office of City Clerk, Dan Craft, the incumbent City Clerk, is hereby
appointed City Clerk by the City Council to serve until December 31, 1998 and until his
successor is elected and qualified.
