ORDINANCE NO. _2 2
AN ORDINANCE ADOPTING BY REFERENCE THE ARKANAS
MECHANICAL CODE, 2021 EDITION WITH ALL AMENDMENTS AND
REVISIONS THEREOF, AND FOR OTHER PURPOSES.
WHEREAS, three copies of the Arkansas Mechanical Code, 2021 Edition, with all
amendments and revisions, have been and are now filed with the office of the City Clerk; and
WHEREAS, notice of the filing of copies of the Arkansas Mechanical Code 2021
Edition, with all amendments and revisions, have been duly published;
BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF WEST
MEMPHIS, ARKANSAS:
SECTION 1. There is adopted by the City for the purpose of establishing rules and
regulations applicable to the installation of mechanical systems, including alterations, fixtures,
fittings and/or appurtenances thereto, including ventilating, heating, cooling, air conditioning
and refrigeration systems, incinerators, and other energy related systems, all of the Arkansas
Mechanical Code 2021 Edition and all amendments and revised editions thereof, save and
except such portions as are hereinafter deleted, modified or amended, of which not less than
three copies have been filed with the office of the City Clerk,
SECTION 2. There is hereby established within the Department of Planning and
Development a sub-department to be called the Building Department which shall administer the
provisions of the Arkansas Mechanical Code. The person(s) in charge of the Mechanical
Department shall be known as the Building Official. Any reference to "Mechanical Official" in
the Arkansas Mechanical Code shall be synonymous to the title "Building Official", as it
pertains to the City of West Memphis.

SECTION 3. No provision of this ordinance is intended to repeal any provision of the
Fire Prevention Code of the International Building Codes of the City of West Memphis,
Arkansas and this ordinance shall be construed to be in addition to the standards required in said •
codes.
SECTION 4. All ordinances or parts of ordinances in conflict herewith are hereby
repealed.
