A RESOLUTION APPROVING THE SELECTION OF AN ENGINEERING
FIRM FOR THE WEST MEMPHIS FLOOD CONTROL PROJECT AND
AUTHORIZING THE MAYOR AND THE CITY ATTORNEY TO
NEGOTIATE AND EXECUTE A CONTRACT FOR PROFESSIONAL
ENGINEERING SERVICES FOR THE WEST MEMPHIS FLOOD CONTROL
PROJECT.
WHEREAS, the City Engineer for the City of West Memphis
` has selected three engineering firms pursuant to the
requirements of A.C.A. 19-11-801, et seq., for professional
engineering services in connection with the West Memphis
Flood Control Project; and
WHEREAS, the City Council of the City of West Memphis
finds that the selection of the three engineering firms is
in accordance with the procedure required by Arkansas law
and should be approved; and
WHEREAS, the Mayor and the City Attorney should be
authorized to enter into negotiations with the first
engineering firm as set out in A.C.A. 19-11-805, and if
unable to negotiate a satisfactory contract to then enter
into negotiations with the second firm, and if then unable
to negotiate a satisfactory contract to enter into
negotiations with the third firm; and
WHEREAS, upon the negotiation of a satisfactory
contract the mayor and the City Clerk should be authorized
to execute said contract on behalf of the City of West
Memphis;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF
THE CITY OF WEST MEMPHIS, ARKANSAS that the selection of
engineering firms for the West Memphis Flood Control
Project is hereby approved and the Mayor and the City
Attorney are hereby authorized to negotiate a satisfactory
contract for professional engineering services for said
project and the Mayor and the City Clerk are authorized to
execute said contract on behalf of the City of West
Memphis, Arkansas.
