A RESOLUTION COMMENDING CHAIRMAN MIKE FORD, THE 1991
LIVIN' ON THE LEVEE STEERING COMMITTEE, SPONSORS, AND
VOLUNTEERS FOR THE SUCCESS OF THE 1991 LIVIN' ON THE
LEVEE CELEBRATION.
WHEREAS, the 1991 edition of the "Livin' on the Levee"
celebration was a tremendous success involving many events
and qualities of River/Levee life that make the Delta such
a rich, historic and "fun" area to be a part of and live
in; and
WHEREAS, sixty barbecue teams competed in the 11th
annual Arkansas Invitational Barbecue Championship making
it the largest such contest in Arkansas and thirty-two
teams participated in the third annual Steamboat Chili Cook-
off contest; and
WHEREAS, the celebration included music from many well-
known artists, a beauty pageant, a 5-K run, arts and
crafts, and many family oriented events; and
WHEREAS, the 1991 celebration was sponsored by the
generous support of WHBQ television, EAGLE 103 radio,
Budweiser Beer, Coca-Cola Bottlers of Memphis, Gene
Stimson's Big Star, Ramada Inn West Memphis, West Memphis
Fence Company, William L. Johnson Company and the West
Memphis Advertising and Promotion Commission; and
WHEREAS, all of the efforts to make the 1991 Livin' on
the Levee celebration such a tremendous success were
coordinated by Chairman Mike Ford and the members of the
1991 Livin' on the Levee Steering Committee and the many
volunteers who helped to make this years celebration so
successful;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF
THE CITY OF WEST MEMPHIS, ARKANSAS, that Chairman Mike
Ford, the members of the 1991 Livin' on the Levee Steering
Committee, the sponsors and the many volunteers are hereby
commended for their efforts in making the 1991 edition of
the Livin' on the Levee Festival a tremendous success of
celebrating life in the Delta and in West Memphis.
ADOPTED this 5th day of December, 1991.
