A RESOLUTION SUPPORTING THE CONTINUED IMPORTATION BY CABLE
VISION OF WEST MEMPHIS OF KATY CHANNEL 7 OF LITTLE ROCK,
ARKANSAS, INTO WEST MEMPHIS PURSUANT TO SECTION ''LU OF WEST
MEMPHIS ORDINANCE NUMBER 91S UATEU APRIL 6, 197F3
WHEREAS, the city of West Memphis, Arkansas, is
isolated frorn regular television broadcast signals frorn the
Arkansas state capital city of Little Rock; and
WHEREAS, the citizens of West Mernphis, Arkansas, are
currently not able to obtain television signals without the
use of Cable Visiori from any television broadcast stations
with main operating studios in Little Rock, Arkansas; and
WHEREAS, KATY, CHANNEL 7 has, with the aid of West
Memphis Cable Vision, to date, done an exemplary job of
providing ttie Citizens of West Mernphis, Arkansas, with
overall news, weather, and sports coverage of Arkansas in
general;
WHEREAS, according to all individuals now living, who
were involved with the irnplerneritatiori of West Memphis City
Ordinance Number 91J, that the points rioted hereto above are
in compliance with, and truly the intent of, said Ordinance
Nurnber gZ9;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF
THE CITY OF WEST MEMPHIS, ARKANSAS, THAT:
1. The City Council of West Memphis, Arkansas, firids
it to be in the best interest of the Citizens of West
Memphis, Arkansas, for ttie local cable cornpany, whoever it
might be, to impart into West Memphis, Arkansas, at least
one television station with studios in Little Rock, Ark-
an sas;
1. The City Council of West Mernphis, Arkansas, cog-
nizant of the exemplary job of Arkansas news, weather, and
sports coverage provided by KATY CHANNEL 7 by virtue of the
aid provided exclusively from Cable Vision of West Mernphis,
Arkansas, request from the local cable company, whoever it
might be, to continue to provide KATV CHANNEL 7 to the
Citizens of West Memphis, Arkansas;
,,~' 3. The City Clerk shall transmit a copy of this
Resolution to Dean A. Ueyo, President ~f Memphis CATV, Inc.,
with offices at 545U Winchester Road, Memphis, Tennessee,
38115.
