A RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING THE WEST MEMPHIS POLICE DEPARTMENT
TO RESPOND AND TO PROVIDE ASSISTANCE TO THE CRITTENDEN
COUNTY SHERIFF'S DEPARTMENT IN AREAS BEYOND THE CITY LIMITS
OF THE CITY OF WEST MEMPHIS
WHEREAS, the West Memphis Police Department has occasion to
be called upon by the Crittenden County Sheriff's Department to
respond to incidents and to provide assistance in areas beyond
the jurisdictional limits of the City of West Memphis; and

WHEREAS, Arkansas law provides that a certified law
enforcement officer may make an arrest outside of the officer's
jurisdiction; and
WHEREAS, it is in the best interests of the citizens of
West Memphis and in the furtherance of law enforcement efforts
within Crittenden County, Arkansas, for officers of the West
Memphis Police Department to be authorized to respond to
incidents and to provide assistance and, where necessary, to
make arrests beyond their jurisdiction at the request of the
Crittenden County Sheriff's Department;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE
CITY OF WEST MEMPHIS, ARKANSAS, that the West Memphis Police
Department and its officers are hereby authorized to respond to
incidents and to provide assistance to the Crittenden County
Sheriff's Department and, wher_ necessary, to make arrests, in
areas beyond the jurisdictional limits of the City of West
Memphis.
