A RESOLUTION URGING THE CRITTENDEN COUNTY QUORUM COURT TO
WITHHOLD ACTION AND TABLE THE PROPOSED DISTRIBUTION OF
FUNDS FROM THE RURAL FIRE PROTECTION REVOLVING FUND PENDING
FURTHER STUDY OF THE PROPOSED DISTRIBUTION.
WHEREAS, Arkansas Code Annotated Section 14-284-401 et
seq., provides additional funding for improvement of fire
protection services through disbursements from the Rural Fire
Protection Revolving FLind (the "Fund") by the Department of
Finance and Administration; and
WHEREAS, financing for the Fund is provided by a tax of one-
half of one percent (0.5%) on net direct written premiums for
coverages upon real and personal property; and
WHEREAS, the majority of the funds collected from
Crittenden County come from the City of West Memphis; and
WHEREAS, moneys from the Fund are to be apportioned by the
Quorum Court of each County to the districts and municipalities
within the county; and
WHEREAS, the City Council of the City of West rlemphis finds
that further study should be given to the proposed distribution
of moneys from the Fund in order to ascertain the most
effective use of these funds for Crittenden County;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE
CITY OF WEST MEMPHIS, ARKANSAS, that the Crittenden County
Quorum Court is urged to withhold action on the proposed
distribution of funds from the Rural Fire Protection Revolving
Fund and to table the proposed distribution until such time as
the Quorum Court can ascertain the most effective use of the
funds for Crittenden County.
