A RESOLUTION TO PERMIT CITY EMPLOYEES WHO DRIVE CITY
VEHICLES TO DRIVE THEIR VEHICLES TO AND FROM THEIR
RESIDENCES, SUBJECT TO DEPARTMENT HEAD APPROVAL, TO REPEAL
RESOLUTION NO. 857, AND FOR OTHER PURPOSES.
WHEREAS, Resolution No. 857 permitted city employees who
drive city vehicles to drive their vehicles to and from their
residences, provided the vehicles were not taken outside the
city limits of the City of West Memphis; and
WHEREAS, the City of West Memphis permits its employees to
reside outside the city limits of the City of West Memphis, so
long as they reside within Crittenden County, Arkansas; and
WHEREAS, the policy of permitting employees to drive their
vehicles to and from their residences should be amended to take
into consideration those employees residing outside the city
limits but within Crittenden County, Arkansas;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE
CITY OF WEST MEMPHIS, ARKANSAS, THAT:
SECTION 1. City Employees who drive city vehicles are
~' hereby permitted to drive their vehicles to and from their
residences, and for other necessary purposes provided they
obtain prior approval from their department head. In determining
whether any city employee should be permitted to drive a city
vehicle to and from their residence the department head should
consider whether such employee is subject to being "on call"
while at home, whether such employee requires immediate access
to equipment generally kept in their city vehicle, insurance
coverage, and other matters relevant to the individual's
employment.
SECTION 2. Resolution No. 857 of the City of West Memphis,
Arkansas, and all other resolutions or parts of resolutions in
conflict herewith are hereby repealed.
