WHEREAS, Mr. Larry Shelton was first elected to the West
Memphis City Council in 1980 and served for six (6) years,
through 1986; and
WHEREAS, Mr. Larry Shelton has served as a dedicated,
hard working and conscientious council member and has
through his years of service faithfully served his consti-
tuents, his City, State and Nation by his service in elected
office; and
WHEREAS, during the time Mr. Larry Shelton served on the
City Council he has served on the following committees:
Police, Public Works, Sanitation, Small Claims, Mosquito
Control, Joint Adhoc, Leasinq, and Budget; and
WHEREAS, Mr. Larry Shelton distinguished himself in many
capacities including the development of a plan whereby the
City Police manpower was expanded by using one man to a
patrol car, thereby allowing more patrol cars on the street,
and as acting as liason for the City in making several con-
~'"' tacts with outside agencies for private enterprise in gar-
bage collection; and
WHEREAS, to better his economic condition, he found it
necessary to establish residency in Tennessee, and vacate
his position on the City Council;
THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE
CITY OF WEST MEMPHIS, ARRANSAS:
That the City Council appreciates and will greatly miss
the services of Mr. Larry Shelton for the contributions he
has made to the City of West Memphis during the many years
he served as a Member of the West Memphis City Council.
