1878ORDINANCE NO. ~ 7S
AN ORDINANCE TO WAIVE COMPETITIVE BIDDING FOR THE PURCHASE
OF EQUIPMENT FROM MEDTRONIC PHYSIO-CONTROL, AND FOR OTHER
PURPOSES.
WHEREAS, Arkansas Code Annotated Section 14-58-303 allows waiving of competitive
bidding in exceptional situations where such procedure is deemed not feasible or practical; and
WHEREAS, there are many items necessary for the City's use where competitive bidding is
deemed not feasible or practical; and
WHEREAS, the West Memphis Fire Department wants to purchase two Medtronic Physio-
Control Lifepack 12 defibrillator/monitors, with accessories and equipment, at a price of
$9,045.00.00 each; and it would not be feasible or practical to require competitive bidding for such
equipment under the present circumstances. This equipment is consistent with equipment presently
being operated at Crittenden Memorial Hospital and is consistent with equipment presently being
utilized by the West Memphis Fire Department;
WHEREAS, the West Memphis Fire Department will receive a matching grant for the
purchase of one Medtronic Physio-Control Lifepack 12 defibrillator/monitor as long as the purchase
is made by September 29, 1999.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY
OF WEST MEMPHIS, ARKANSAS:
1. That competitive bidding be waived for the following item to be used by the City, described
as follows:
Two (2) Medtronic Physio-Control LIFEPAK 12 defibrillator/monitors, with accessories
and equipment, for the sum of $9,045.00 each.
