June 30, 19472dINUTES OF AAI ADJOURNED MEETING OF THE CITY COUNCIL. OF 1ST MEMPITIS
The Council of the City of rJest Memphis in the County of Crittenden, State of Arkansas, met in an
adjourned session at the City Hall in said City at 1;30 PM on the 30th day of June, 1947, pursuant to
adjournment June 23, 1917.
The meeting was called to order by the Mayor, and the roll being called there were:
Present; P, vl. Dacus in the chair and the following named i~,ldermen; Curtis Foster, G. ~f. T~icAuley,
J. A, Johnson, and 0. I. Bollinger.
Absent: Aldermen R, R. Morley and C. H. Brown; City Attorney Spears and City Clerk Manning.
It being determined a quorum was present, the following proceedings were had to-wit:
The owners of the Chao-Cum store appeared before the Council to request that sufficient time be
allowed them to dispose of part of their stock so that they could comply with the request of the
Council that their store be removed by tearing down part of the store at the time and bu9.ld a new store.
After discussion of the matter it wras decided that the owners of the Chao-Corn store be granted 90
days from date to start on a new fireproof building.
Mayor Dacus advised the Council that he has received several reNuests that coin operated amusement
games be operated in iJest ~+emphis since the machines had been legalized by the State. Inasrm:ch as
Ordinance No. 95 prohibits the operating the machines in Nest INemphis, no action was taken on the matter
until a later date.
The proposed routes, schedules and fares of the .Jest Memphis Transportation Company, which had
been submitted at an earlier date were examined and discussed, It was the opinion of the members of
the Council present that the schedules were adequate and should be adopted. The fare of ten cents
(10¢) per adult person was thought bo be reasonable for the time being especially in view of the fact
that the transportation system is new, and that this fare would have to be charged to provide a suffi-
cient revenue to cover the operation of the system. Thereupon the following motion was made by
Alderman Bollinger:
That the routes, schedules and rates as submitted by the }pest T~mphis Transportation Company be
approved and that the routes, schedules and fares as proposed be adopted; that the same be copied in
the proceedings of the Council.
The motion was seconded by alderman !v}cauley. Upon the matter being called to vote, the follotiving _
voted;
A;;~e; Curtis Foster, J, k. Johnson, 0. I. Bollinger, and G. J. TwcAuley.
