WHEREAS,pursuant to A.C.A. §14-301-302, et seq., there has been filed with the City Council of the City of West Memphis,Arkansas, by Marco M. McClendon as Mayor on behalf of the City of West Memphis, a petition to vacate the following street: The portion of Thompson Avenue between Lots 6, 7, and 8, Block 3 and Lot 1, Block 4, Thompson's 3rd Edition to the City of West Memphis as show by plat recorded in Plat Book 1, Page 184. and said Petitioner prays that the City Council fix a day for the hearing on said petition. McClendon, Mayor of the.City of West Memphis, being the owner of Lots 6, 7 and 8, Block 3 and Lot.l, Bloe.k.4;Thornoon,3`d Edition to the City of West Memphis which seeks to vacate the segment of Thompson Avenue between6`1' Street and 7`1' Street aril pursuant to A.C.A. fi14-301-302, el seq.;petitions the City Council of the City of WestMemphis,Arkansas, states: That Petition seeks to vacate the following:street: The portion of Thompson Avenue between Lots 6, 7, and 8, Block,3-and Lot 1,Block 4, Thompson's 3n1 Edition to the City, of West Memphis as show by, plat recorded in Plat Book 1,Page 184. 2. Attached hereto as Exhibit"A"a copy of the plat filed for record in the office of the Recorder of Crittenden.County,Arkansas,Which shows the-portion of the street to be vacated together with the lands abutting upon the street to be vacated. 3. The property abutting the portion of Thompson Avenue is occupied by the West Memphis Police Department and the West Memphis Fire Department. The street has been in use in the last five years; however, the,partial closure of ThompsonAvenue will allow the West Memphis Police Department and the West Memphis Fire Department to be combined into one campus which will make conditions:safer forthe staff of both departments and the public. The four-way traffic light will remain but will become a three-way traffic light.: Attached as'Exhibit. "GB"is the ARDOT plat. 4. It is beneficial to the citizens and the,employees of the fire and,police departments to remain safe.
