ORDINANCE NO. .2.-7 3�
AN ORDINANCE TO VACATE A PORTION OF THOMPSON AVENUE
BETWEEN 6TH STREET AND'7TH STREET AND FOR OTHER PURPOSES.
WHEREAS, a petition was duly filed with the City Council of the City of West
Memphis,Arkansas, on the 14th day of May,2026, asking the City Council to vacate and
abandon all that portion of the street designated on the plat of the Thompson's 3rd Edition to the
City of West Memphis,now appearing of record in plat book 1 at page 183 in the office of the
recorder of Crittenden County,Arkansas; and
WHEREAS,after due notice as required by law,the council has,at the time and place
mentioned in the notice,heard all persons desiring to be heard on the question and has
ascertained that the street or the portion thereof,hereinbefore described,has heretofore been
dedicated to the public use as a street herein described;that all owners of the property abutting
upon the portion of the street to be vacated have filed with the council their written consent to the
abandonment; and that public interest and welfare will not be adversely affected by the
abandonment of the street.
NOW,THEREFORE,BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE
CITY OF WEST MEMPHIS,ARKANSAS:
SECTION 1. The City of West Memphis,Arkansas,releases,vacates and abandons all
its rights,together with the rights of the public generally, in and to the street designated as
follows:
The portion of Thompson Avenue between Lots 6, 7, and 8,Block 3 and Lot 1,Block 4,
Thompson's 3rd Edition to the City of West Memphis as show by plat recorded in Plat
Book 1,Page 184.
SECTION 2. A copy of the ordinance duly certified by the city clerk or town recorder •
•
shall be filed in the office of the recorder of the county and recorded in the deed records of the
county.
SECTION 3. This ordinance shall take effect and be in force from and after its passage.
