That~s when West Memphis new city library was officially dedicated and appropriate ceremonies were arranged for the accasion. West Memphis has witnessed almost unprecedented growth in the past few years and it hae been a ma3or problem to keep services and cultural growth in pace with that of the population. The library has been a victim of the expanding population in years past. It has been moved from one place to another and been more or lass a step-child of the community because it always seemed the space occupied by the library was needed more urgently for something else. That situation no longer exists. The library now has a permanent home and one that West Memphians can point to with pride as "our library." Those who have worked so diligently to make this a reality and those who have administered our city finances i.n such a manner as to make it possible deserve praise from our citizenry for their efforts. Its another progressive achievement for our town. ~:;:-:Ett-:~- Mayor Price informed the Council there should be some changes made in the proposed ordinance for compensation from the gas company for operation in West Memphis.
