MINUTES OF A REGULAR MEETING OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF WEST MEMPHIS,
ARKANSAS HELD AT THE CITY HALL IN SAID CITY ON THH 6TH DAY OF JULYS 1961,_AT 3:00 P, M.
The City Council of the City of West Memphis, Arkansas, met in regular session
in the City of West Memphis at 3:00 o'clock P, M. on the 6th day of July, 1961. The
following were present: Aldermen: J. F. Lackey, L. E. Roleson, Y. G. Sims,
R. C. Bowie, R. E. Eden, and Earl Felts; and City Attorney W, H, Dillahunty,
Absent: Aldermen: O. I. Hollinger and C. H. Rowton,
It being determined a quorum was present, the following proceedings were had to-
wit:
Minutes of Council Meeting on June 15, 1961, were approved as read.
Estimate from Contractors Heath & Scarbrough for Fire Stations No. 2 and 3 in the
amount of $11,60$,22 was presented,
Aldermen Felts and Lackey, members of the Committee appointed to meet with the
Junior Auxiliary on the question of fluoridation of the city's water, reported there
is to be a meeting of the Junior Auxiliary with the Utility Commission in order to
obtain costs and other information and recommended the matter be taken under advi~e-
ment until a recommendation is received from the Utility Commission. After discussion,
Mayor Price stated in his opinion as Mayor of the City, the City Officials representing
the citizens of West Memphis should not take any action until a majority of the citizens
of West Memphis have expressed their desire in the matter by vote for fluoridation of
the water.
No further business being presented, motion was made by Alderman Eden, seconded by
Alderman Roleson to adjourn. Upon vote, the voting was as follows:
Aye: Aldermen: Lackey, Roleson, Sims, Bowie, Eden, Felts.
Nay: None.
