AN ORDINANCE APPROVING A CONTRACT BETWEEN THE CITY
OF WEST MEMPHIS, ARKANSAS, AND SHANE GRIFFIN, D/B/A
CHORES AND MORE, FOR CLEANING SERVICES AT THE WEST
MEMPHIS DISTRICT COURT, AND FOR OTHER PURPOSES.
WHEREAS, A.C.A. §14-42-107(b)(1) states:
No alderman, council member, official, or municipal employee shall be interested,
directly or indirectly, in the profits of any contract for furnishing supplies,
equipment, or services to the municipality unless the governing body of the city
has enacted an ordinance specifically permitting aldermen, council members,
officials, or municipal employees to conduct business with the city and
prescribing the extent of this authority.
and;
WHEREAS, the City of West Memphis desires to utilize the services of Shane Griffin,
doing business as Chores and More, to provide cleaning services for the West Memphis District
Court; and
WHEREAS, Shane Griffin is related to the current West Memphis District Court and, as
such, the District Court Clerk has a "direct or indirect" interest in the profits of such contract,
thereby requiring prior approval of such contract by the City Council of the City of West
Memphis;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE
CITY OF WEST MEMPHIS, ARKANSAS, THAT:
SECTION 1. The City of West Memphis is hereby authorized to contract with Shane
Griffin, doing business as Chores and More, for cleaning services to be provided for the West
Memphis District Court.
