RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF WEST MEMPHIS, AR~fANAS,
AUTHORIZING THE MAYOR OF WEST MEMPHIS, ARKANAS, TO APPLY FOR A
GRANT ON BEHALF DF THE OFFICE OF ECONOMIC DEVELOPMENT.
WHEREAS, the City Council of West Memphis, Arkansas has determined that the Local
Economic Development Incentive Policy Development Study meets eligibility requirements
necessary to apply for a grant under the 2009 GIF Regional Development Grant Program; and
WHEREAS, the Economic Development Director has presented plans to hire a consultant to
conduct an Economic Development Local Incentive Policy Study. This study would determine
the type of economic development incentives that need to be offered so the area can compete
effectively with neighboring states.
WHEREAS, the City Council of West Memphis, Arkansas recognizes the need for the project,
concurs in its importance, and supports the Office of Economic Development in its efforts to
proceed with the same;
NOW THEREFORE BE IT RESOL VED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF WEST MEMPHIS,
ARKANSAS, THAT:
The Mayor of West Memphis, Arkansas is hereby authorized to submit an application of formal
request to the Arkansas Economic Development Commission for purposes of securing the state
grant funds in the amount of $ 20,000.00 to aid and assist the Office of Economic Development
in executing the proposed project described herein and that the Mayor of West Memphis,
Arkansas is further authorized to administer the grant funds for the same project.
