Alderman Pritchard Horton read the following letter from the West riemphis School District: July L6, 1971 Mr . Pritchard Horton Dacus Lumber Company West Memphis, Ark., 72301 Dear Mr. Horton: You called regarding the closing of a street right-of-way leading from 14th Street to the property belonging to the West Memphis School District. This property is the campus of the East Junior High School and the Weaver Elementary School. At our next school board meeting following your call, this subject was brought to the attention of the board members. It was their unanimous decision that they would like to see this street right-of- way made as amass to the campus from its eastern side. At the present time, there is only a practice football field on this campus, but in the future this campus could be used as a playing field. There seems to be no advantage to the school property in doing away with this right-of-way and possibly there would be many disadvantages. I trust you will bring this letter to the attention of the proper authorities, and if there is anything further that needs to be done in behalf of this project, I know you will call upon us. Very truly yours, /S/ 0 . M .
