Mayor Joyce Ferguson
and City Council
?~Je s t Memphis , AR
Dear Mayor and Council members:
The CITY BEAUTIFUL COMMISSION would like to protest the manner in which the
ordinance regulating the size of signs is changed every time a new industry
comes to tDwn. At this rate Missouri Street will soon look like Broadway.
Broadway looks so bad that we have been trying to talk the merchants into
cooperating on uniformity of signs. However, if this trend continues we might
as well give up the whole thing.
It is frustrating for a group of women to give of their time and energies purely
trirough civic pride to feel that their efforts are wasted. We do feel we are
being thwarted at every turn in our long range plans to beautify our city.
Very truly yours,
CITY BEAUTIFUL COMMISSION OF WEST MEMPHIS
/S/ MAI M . Mc CAMhiON
Corresponding Secretary.
