AN ORDINANCE TO AMEND ORDINANCE 1064 ESTABLISHING WATER RATES FOR THE CITY
OF WEST MEMPHIS, AND FOR OTHER PURPOSES
WHEREAS, the West Memphis Utility Commission has recommended and approved a revision of
Utility rates for water in the City of West Memphis, and
WHEREAS, in order to meet necessary revenue requirements for the City of West Me
utility system, it is necessary that water rates be increased over athirty-six month period, and O
amended.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE WEST MEMPHIS CITY COUNC
FOLLOWING RATES FOR WATER IN THE CITY OF WEST MEMPHIS ARE HEREBY A
APPROVED, THE NEW RATES SHALL BE EFFECTIVE IN TWELVE MONTH INCREME
CONSUMERS THE DAY THIS ORDINANCE IS PUBLISHED. CONSUMPTION BEFORE
ORDINANCE IS PUBLISHED SHALL BE BILLED AT THE OLD RATES.
SECTION 1: Rates for Water Service
Rate: The net monthly rate (after 10% discount) for water service shall be as follows:
PER MONTH BEGINNING 2004 (FIRST 12 MONTH INCREMENT)
First 1,500 gallons or less Minimum Meter Charge
Next 3,500 gallons @ $.059 per hundred gallons
Next 45,000 gallons @ $.051 per hundred gallons

All Over 50,000 gallons at $ .044 per hundred gallons

Billine and Payrnent: The $56.00 connection and disconnection charge shall be paid in advance with
the application. A $56.00 charge will be billed every two months and meters
will be read when disconnection is made and billings for water used shall be
paid in 15 days. At the option of the City, a deposit to secure payment for
water maybe required.
SECTION 2. All Ordinances or parts of ordinances in conflict herewith are hereby repealed to the extent
of any such conflict.
