AN ORDINANCE ATTACHING AND INCORPORATING CERTAIN
DESCRIBED ANNEXED TERRITORY TO WARD ONE OF THE
CITY OF WEST MEMPHIS AND FOR OTHER PURPOSES.
WHEREAS, A.C.A. ~ 14-40-203 requires that when any territory shall have been
annexed to any incorporated town or city, it may be, and it is the duty of the town or city
council of the incorporated town or city to attach and incorporate the annexed territory to
and in one (1) or more wards of the incorporated town or city lying adjacent thereto; and
WHEREAS, the following described territory has been annexed to the City of West
Memphis and is adjacent to Ward One of the City of West Memphis:
Commencing at the intersection of the centerline of the Southern Pacific Railroad
(Chicago Rock Island and Pacific Railroad); and the East line of said Section 23;
thence South along the East line of said Section 23 a distance of 1225.00 feet to the
point of beginning; said point lying along the existing city limits of the City of West
Memphis; thence continuing South along the East line of said Section 23 to its
intersection with the centerline of the Old Missouri Pacific Railroad (abandoned);
thence Southwestwardly along the centerline of the Old Missouri Pacific Railroad to
its intersection with the North line of said Section 26; thence N 89° 40' O1" E along
the North line of said Section 26 a distance of 1885.75 feet to the Northeast corner
of said Section 26; thence S 0° 23' 24" E along the East line of said Section 26 a
distance of 5260.26 feet to the Southeast corner of said Section 26; thence S 0° OS'
46" E along the East line of said Section 35 a distance of 2640.00 feet to the East'/a
corner of said Section 35; thence N 89° 45' 22" E along the North line of the SW '/4
of said Section 36 a distance of 528.00 feet to a point on the West bank of Fletcher
Lake; thence S 14° 14' 23" W along the West bank of Fletcher Lake a distance of
421.37 feet; thence S 21° 58' 14" W a distance of 1127.72 feet to a point on the
West bank of Fletcher Lake and the East line of said Section 35; thence S 0° OS' 46"
E along the East line of said Section 35 a distance of 1188.00 feet to the Southeast
corner of said Section 35; thence S 89° 51' 27" W along the South line of said
Section 35 a distance of 232.84 feet to a point on the West bank of Fletcher Lake;
thence S 4° 46' 24" E along said lake bank a distance of 366.05 feet; thence S 89°
07' 00" W a distance of 1929.86 feet to a point on the East line of the Lavonza
Ballard tract; thence N 26° 20' S8" E a distance of 435.54 feet to a point on the
South line of said Section 35; thence S 89° S 1' 27" W a distance of 712.68 feet to
the South'/4 corner of said Section 35; thence N 0° 04' O1" W a distance of 2635.32
feet to the center of said Section 35; thence S 89° 45' 22" W along the South line of
the NW '/a of said Section 3 5 a distance of 263 3.49 feet to the West '/a corner of
said Section 35; thence N 0° 23' S5" W a distance of 2630.69 feet to the Northwest
corner of said Section 35; thence S 89° 22' 37" W along the South line of said
Section 27 a distance of 2658.57 feet to the South'/a corner of said Section 27;
thence North along the West line of the East Half of said Section 27 to a point on
the South right-of--way of 10 Mile Bayou; thence meandering along the South and
East right-of--way of said 10 Mile Bayou to a point on the North line of said Section
27; thence east along the North line of said Section 27 to the Northeast corner of
said Section 27; thence North along the West line of said Section 23 to a point on
the existing city limits of the City of West Memphis; thence North 76° 26' 00" E
along the existing city limits of the City of West Memphis to the point of beginning,
containing 1669.13 acres, more or less.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF
THE CITY OF WEST MEMPHIS, ARKANSAS, THAT:
SECTION 1. The above described territory is hereby attached and incorporated to
Ward One of the City of West Memphis.
SECTION 2. All ordinances or parts of ordinances in conflict herewith are hereby
repealed.
